Ingredient Ratings
For each matched ingredient, Sezia assigns a rating to help you assess its potential impact on your skin. These ratings aid in determining whether it's advisable to conduct a patch test or avoid the product entirely. You can find more information about the specific factors that determine an ingredient's rating within the individual ingredient categories.
Highly reactive for most individuals: C11-24 acids, lipids, and Galactomyces.
These ingredients have proven potential to aggravate conditions associated with Malassezia yeasts. Although the extent of their impact can vary due to factors like ingredient concentration and the specific Malassezia species present, the presence of these ingredients significantly elevates the risk of an adverse skin response. We strongly advise avoiding products that contain these ingredients.
Highly reactive under certain conditions: esters.
These ingredients can aggravate conditions associated with Malassezia yeasts, but their impact depends on many factors. Reactions to these ingredients can vary based on the species of Malassezia present and the concentration or chemical composition of the ingredient involved. While there is some uncertainty due to multiple influencing factors, there is a significant chance of these ingredients triggering a reaction. We recommend avoiding products containing them or using them with extreme caution.
Reactivity depends on skin tolerance: high sensitivity ingredients.
High sensitivity ingredients include non-lipid ferments and strains of yeast that are not directly implicated in conditions involving Malassezia yeasts. These ingredients can influence Malassezia yeasts, but the relationship is complex. Some individuals may tolerate them well and even benefit from them, while others may experience adverse reactions. For those with sensitive skin, we recommend avoiding products containing these ingredients. If your skin tolerates fermented or yeast-based ingredients well, you may consider using them with caution.
